Panasonic NA-148VA2 WASHING MACHINE – in stock £464.99

We’ve just taken delivery of our first Panasonic washing machine.  And boy did we know about it.  When we supply washing machines,  one of the keys to quality is generally weight.  The Panasonic weighs in at a hefty 92kg,  which is as much as a Miele!  Before its even out of the box,  the signs are positive.

Large double glazed door is a marmite feature

Upon unpacking,  the most striking thing is the style.  It’s refreshing to see Panasonic have followed thier own course when designing the machine and focused on quality over style.  The most striking feature is the porthole door.  Over sized,  double glazed and tinted it’s definetly unique in the market place.  Surrounded by silver trim,  it’s different but not unpleasent. The double glazing making it safer for families with young children on hot washes.

Opening the door,  you immedietley see what is different about the design of this machine – the angled drum.  Panasonic have pitched the large 8kg drum by 10 degrees,  instantly reducing water consumption by lowering the surface area required to wash.  A standard wash consumes just 50l of water.  Compared to a modern hotpoint which consumes 60 litres,  thats quite a saving.

Energy consumption is low too.  This machine is rated at A-30%,  which is the same as A++.  A typical wash consuming just over 1kw of electricity.  This low consumption is achieved by the Brushless, induction motor,  which also gives extremely quiet wash performance.

As I said before,  this machine is an 8kg capacity,  which is about standard for the price range,  and also a fast 1400rpm.  Very similar in specification to the old Siemens WM14s383.

I've pressed every option, hence the long wash.

The controls themselves are clearly labelled,  and straighforward to operate.  The machine features one main control knob and a clear LCD display.  Upon choosing from a selection of materials and wash types,  the user simply chooses a temperaute and presses the start button.  Like the siemens however it has pre-wash, extra rinse and reduced ironing options.  There is also a delay timer to take advantage of off peak discounts.  To keep up with the modern detergents,  theres even a 15 degree wash!

Obviously,  with such a new product,  its difficult to discuss reliabilty from experience.  However this product has been available in the multiples for over a year now,  and has recieved numerous awards from the press.  Combine this with a standard two year warranty and you’ve got a well specced machine, reliable machine with great quality.
