IN-Stock – £69.99 with free local delivery.
On this website, i’m trying to review products which stand out. There’s not much point in me reviewing a 2 slice toaster and raving on for 20 minutes about it’s crumb tray. So why am I reviewing a very ordinary, basic vacuum cleaner?
Well, because it’s a very ordinary, basic vacuum cleaner. You see, as I hinted in my blog, Vacuums have got too complicated lately.
It used to be the case, you bought a Hoover junior, job done. Then Electrolux and co started to introduce different “needs” into the market, and then Dyson came alone and destroyed the market for a good, simple machine.
That’s where the Panasonic comes in.
The Panasonic upright takes a paper bag. It has no Hepa filters, nothing needs washing, it’s doesn’t have Cyclones or vortexes or variable power or any other frivolity which you find on machines costing 3 times as much.
No, the Panasonic upright is all about being simple, lightweight and efficient. It weighs in at approx 6.5kg, which is lighter than nearly every other bagged upright I know. As such, it’s ideal for people who find lifting a bit of a struggle.
As I say, it takes a paper bag, which is both large, and easy to fit. No clips, switches or sliders. Just push it on. Bags are cheap too. £4.50 for a pack of five. As “cheap” as it is to run a Dyson, at least this way you’ll never find yourself in a cloud of dust halfway through cleaning the living room.
The Panasonic also has a short hose and tool system for cleaning the car, furniture, curtains and skirting boards. It’s very effective, although a little short for stairs. It’s got a small brush tool and crevice tool to make the job a little easier too.
Although wattage is by no means the way to measure a cleaners quality, the 2000w motor ensures strong, constant suction. Coupled with the rotating brush bar, its copes admirably with hard floors, carpets and animal hair.
I know it’s not the most detailed review, but going back to my opening comments, this is just a bog basic, straight forward vacuum cleaner that does exactly what you would expect it to do. 20 years ago, it would have stood amongst 20 other similar machines on the shop floor, but these days it’s one of only a handful of cheap, reliable simple machines available.
Pop in to compare it against the latest Dyson, Miele and Sebo uprights!
