Bosch WAE24364 Classixx Washing Machine
Thursday, 18 Jun 2009 ~ Posted by Mook
Ok, here we have the second washing machine in the current Bosch range. It’s worth noting that all the washing machines in the range start with WAE or WAS. Do not be fooled into buying any machine with a WAA code as these are tactical products designed for the big stores and made in Bosch’s lower quality factories. Anyway, I digress.
What we have here is a 6kg, 1200rpm washing machine. 6kg is about 13lb of washing, so it takes a larger load than many machines made over 5 years ago. Chances are your old machine is 5.5kg or less. This is the 1200rpm version, although a 1400rpm model is available for a little extra cost. Saying that, it is worth noting most machine will regulate their spin speed on a full load, so it’s rare you’d need much more than 1200rpm on a day to day basis.
It’s a standard size machine, 60cm wide, 60cm deep and 85cm high, to fit under your standard worktop (in inches that’s H:33 ½ W:23 ½ D:23 ½ ) and as always these days, is cold fill only. The basic layout if very simple, using Bosch’s normal programme dial.
Essentially, you select the fabric and the temperature at the same time, and have a full range of options to choose from. Aside from the usual Cotton and Synthetic programmes, you always have a Cold Wool wash and a single item 15 minute wash. This is designed for that single shirt or garment you need in a hurry. (Nothing worse than spilling dinner down your top just before you’re due to go out). It’s not a full wash load, but will perform the full wash programme, fill, wash, rinse and spin.
The machine features a digital display (now standard fare on a lot of The WAE24364 features an intuitive control panelmachines) which will tell you how long the wash will take and then countdown the time until it’s finished. This is extremely useful if you are waiting on a load to end in order to get the next wash on. This display also doubles as a delay timer, allowing you to “set and forget ” the machine to complete the wash whilst you are at work, or at night to take advantage of lower rate electricity. Like most modern washing machines this is an A rated appliance, meaning its extremely energy and water efficient.
Robust hinges and door catch make it strong enough for family useLike any German machine, it is very simple to use, and quiet in operation. Little details such as a metal door catch and robust hinges give clue to the overall build quality beneath.
I tend to describe this machine as being like an old Hotpoint. Years ago before the Indesit group bought them, Hotpoint made strong, simple and reliable machines. Those days have gone unfortunately, but Bosch seems to have taken on that mantra, and do exactly that. This is a very simple, but very strong washer.
Like any Bosch product it has a 2 year parts and labour warranty, and like any freestanding washing machine, we deliver, install and dispose of your old machine, locally, free of charge.
At the time of this review, our in-store price, including free D+I+O is £389.99. The very same machine EXCLUDING installation from Curry’s is £399.99!!!!
It makes sense to shop local.

Everyone I know who has a Bosch washing machine, loves it. They are so simple to use and very reliable. I dont understand why people would choose to buy something like a Hotpoint or LG when you can get a Bosch for similar money.
