Panasonic 2010 Range – Details!
Tuesday, 02 Mar 2010 ~ Posted by Mook
Well, we have finally been given full details of the Panasonic 2010 range of flat screen TV’s and recorders, and there are some VERY interesting developments.
First things first – HD Freeview. EVERY full HD set in the 2010 Range will feature HD Freeview as standard. This makes choosing a HD ready set over a full HD set a much harder desicion, but ultimatly makes life easier for the consumer by having a definable reason to go “Full HD”
They’ve also got LED Back lighting coming. Obviously this has been seen in other brands, but Panasonic feel the extra 18 months of R&D they’ve put into thier system will be clear to see. Featuring two types of LED, they have sidelighting on one set of panels, and full LED back light on another range of LCD sets. This in addition to the traditional Cold cathode backlight on the entry levels models.
Speaking of entry level, they now have a 22″ LCD coming to market, a welcome stop gap between 19″ and 26″ which both remain. They are also bringing out a picture frame style small set, ideal for kitchens and bedrooms.
For me however, the most exciting new models are the G20 Plasma sets. Firstly, they feature a whole new Panel design, using a single bonded layer screen to give less glare and reflection – much like the Pioneer Kuro sets of old. All G20 sets feature Freesat AND Freeview HD! All of course with 600hz Neo PDP technology. These should look amazing with stunning black levels!
But most exciting of all for me, is Wi-Fi ready – the ability to watch online content wirelessly by plugging in a USB dongle and best of all USB record.
Thats right, plus an external USB HDD into the TV and you can record, rewind and pause live TV! Very tidy, and best of all it works with ANY brand of USB HDD!
Other neat touches in the range are the Srange of LCD tv’s. Full HD, Freeview HD, 100hz. The S range of Plasma again Full HD but without the freesat and USB functions.
It really feel like theres a set to suit all markets this year, which perhaps in the past, with all the non-100hz models, wasn’t the case.
The standard 32″ HD ready set also retails for below £500, which is unheard of from Panasonic. Great news.
On the recording side of things, the range doesn’t vary so much from last year. However there ARE a range of HD Freeview PVR/DVD machines coming.
Entry level product will be a twin Freeview HD Tuner with HDD and DVD recorder, but there will be a sell up option to include a Blu-ray recorder. So, finally, if you don’t want to have a satellite dish fitted, you can recieve and record freeview in HD.
Exciting times!
As more info comes though, I’ll post up details, but in the meantime the new models are going to be arriving thick and fast, so pop in or get in touch to learn more!
