This year is going to see yet more confusion in the already chaotic world of Flat screen Tv’s
You see, that HD ready TV you bought… or even that Full HD Tv you bought…
well it ain’t HD Freeview ready.
Thats right. The Government are set to launch HD Freeview, on a totally different system to that of ordinary Freeview, thus making lots of already confused people Angry.
The manufacturers of the sets will no doubt respond this year to the situation by releasing HD freeview ready Tv’s, at extra cost, but it’s too late for the majority. If you want to watch the Olympics in HD… you’ll need a set top box.
Bloody ludicrous if you ask me, but totally out of our control. I’ve got my Panasonic rep coming in today, so hopefully I’ll find out exactly what the situation is going to be, but I fear HD freeview is going to be a pipe dream for most.
Then, after all that kerfuffle, we have 3D ready. Whats the point?!?!? Who’s going to watch TV with 3d glasses on all the time?
No, 3D will only be any good for Films and games and to be honest I think it’ll be a quirky system that dies a death.
LED’s. Thats this years buzz word. After last years LED TV fiasco from Samsung (see LED backlit rather than pixels as everyone thinks) the major players are bringing out thier own LED sets. The major advantage is a thin panel, but pictures will be NO SHARPER than a normal LCD
Overall, there’s lots going on to mess up a market that needs stablising. We will endeavour to stock what we feel is best for the consumer, and help you avoid the tricks and traps that seem to be set.
