BEKO – Important Safety Notice
Wednesday, 06 Jul 2011 ~ Posted by Mook
Now, as you’ll be aware, we don’t sell much Beko, but there have been occasions when we have been asked to supply specific models, or our regular customers have bought Beko elsewhere.
So, as you may be aware, there is a safety recall on selected Beko models. Look at the list below, and use the link to check if your machine is affected.
It has come to our attention that in a very small number of incidents, the defrost timer on a certain production range of BEKO frost free refrigeration can fail and overheat. We are seeking to contact owners of these products to carry out a free of charge modification to the defrost timer.
We deeply regret any incident involving any Beko product and we are working with all relevant organisations to rectify an identified problem with some of our fridge freezers. Quality, customer safety and satisfaction is paramount to Beko; all its products are independently tested before being placed on the market and meet all UK and European safety standards. The number of incidents to which these products have been potentially linked is extremely small, nevertheless, as a responsible manufacturer, we have decided to proactively contact the owners of these fridge freezers to make a free in-home modification to remove any potential risk with this component.
We apologise for the difficulties that some customers have experienced in contacting us; we have received a large volume of telephone enquiries, and we urge customers to check their model online before calling the Customer Careline. However customers with any concerns should contact us directly.
The BEKO frost free fridge freezer models affected were manufactured between January 2000 and October 2006. These have a serial number that begins with either 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05 or 06. and this information can be found on a label inside the fridge. Beko is making a free of charge modification to all affected models, this modification takes approximately 30mins.
Other Beko branded models and all Beko frost free fridge freezers manufactured after this date are unaffected.
Please check your appliance by following the steps below.
