So this is it, we are finally online…

So this is it. J.J. Lighting & Electrical has finally arrived on the internet. Only running water and the combustion engine to go and we’ll be in the 21st Century…
The sad fact is, this industry is broken online. Unless you are the cheapest, or you’re top of the pile on Google, people don’t spare you a thought. Your average online shopper cares little about where a store is located, or what history it has and who it’s run by. It’s no surprise then to see websites who come and go on a weekly basis. One week it’s BIASCO (who became insolvent), next it’s The American Appliance Centre (also insolvent) or RTD Electronics (you guessed it, insolvent!). Not to mention the huge and mighty Empire Direct. What could be worse than buying online only to discover the shop has gone bust and you’ve lost your hard-earned money? Fact is, simply trying to run a business based on price and price alone is a flawed business model. It’s all about price AND service. Come INTO a shop and SEE what you are buying first, get a feel for how it works and how you work it.
So you’ll find no prices on this site, apart from special offers. What you will find though is a direct reflection of the retail shop we have run in Chingford for the last 13 years. Hopefully, if you are reading this you are local to us. If you are not, it’s worth knowing that Chingford is a town on the northern suburbs of London, bordering Essex via Woodford, Loughton and Buckhurst Hill. It’s not part of the sprawling metropolis and as such, our customers are used to a more village-like approach to retail. We have developed a reputation over the years for being able to supply quality electrical equipment at good prices, whilst offering honest advice and sometimes costing ourselves a sale in the process.
What it boils down to is this; we’d rather recommend you a local repair man to fix your old appliance than sell you a new one if we feel that’s best for you – the customer. We won’t sell your Nan a 42” Full HD TV if all she wants to watch is the bowls in her kitchen. Nor do we stock vast ranges of “cheap” unknown brands, sticking instead to long-established known brands such as Bosch and Panasonic. We may occasionally appear biased in our recommendations, but it’s quite the contrary. We recommend those brands because of the reputation they have earned long before we came along. Our experience shows a Bosch machine causes fewer problems than a Beko one, and a Panasonic TV is rather better than a Samsung one. That’s not to say those brands are useless, it’s just our personal experience with them hasn’t been great and you can get better value from other brands. At the end of the day, if a product goes wrong, it gives us as much hassle as it gives you – and we don’t like hassle.
This site is designed exclusively to offer YOU – the consumer – good, honest advice from “the little man in the high street”. We won’t flog you warranties to beef up our profit margin, we won’t charge you £60 for a gold-plated Scart cable and we won’t just dump your new appliance on your doorstep. We are here to assist you in your purchase, and clear the fog of confusion that is faceless online sales and desolate out of town stores. We want you to have the best appliance you can get for the money you want to spend, not the one which just so happens to have the biggest profit.
We ARE your Local electrical shop…
