How do I re-tune my Sony TV or recorder?
Wednesday, 30 Sep 2009 ~ Posted by Mook
SONY TV;
1) Switch on the TV and make sure you’re looking at a Freeview channel.
2) Press “Menu” on your remote control.
3) A large box will appear on your screen. Right at the bottom will be an option for “Settings”. Press the down arrow button repeatedly until the word “Settings” is lit in yellow. Now press the SELECT button on your remote (this is the large round button in the middle of the arrow buttons).
4) A new box will appear on the screen. On the left-hand side will be a load of symbols, the bottom one looks like a toolbox. Move the yellow box down to this “toolbox” and press the SELECT button as you did before.
5) “Auto Start Up” will be lit up in yellow. Press the SELECT button once more.
6) Now, it will ask you to choose a language. The word “English” should already be lit up in yellow. Press the SELECT button once more.
7) Next, it will ask you what country you’re in! Again, “United Kingdom” should be lit up in yellow. Press the SELECT button once more.
8) Getting there! It’ll ask you if you’re at home or in a shop. “Home” should be lit in yellow. Press the SELECT button again.
9) Now it will ask you if you want to “Start Auto Tuning”. You do, of course, so press the SELECT button!
10) That’s it! A blue screen will appear, but there’s nothing else you need to do. You will see a white bar moving slowly across this blue screen. Leave it alone for a few minutes, and it will eventually bring you back to BBC1, and you’re done…
Remember to keep these instructions safe. You will have to do this several more times over the next few years due to the digital switchover.
SONY RECORDER;
1) Switch on the TV and recorder. Everything from now on is done on the recorder remote control, so make sure this is the one you’re using.
2) Press “System Menu” on your remote control.
3) A large box will appear on your screen. There will be an option for “Initial Settings”. Press the down arrow button repeatedly until the words “Initial Settings” are lit in yellow. Now press the ENTER button on your remote (this is the large round button in the middle of the arrow buttons).
4) A new box will appear on the screen. On the left-hand side will be a load of options, near the top will be an option for “Aerial Reception Settings (Digital)”. Press the down arrow button until this is lit in yellow and press the ENTER button as you did before.
5) “Replace Channels” will be lit up in yellow. Press the ENTER button once more.
6) Now, it will ask you to choose a language. The word “English” should already be lit up in yellow. Press the ENTER button once more.
7) Next, it will ask you what country you’re in! Again, “United Kingdom” should be lit up in yellow. Press the ENTER button once more.
