TO FORMAT DVD DISCS; PANASONIC DMR-EZ47
This should only be done when wanting to use a brand new disc. Once a disc has been formatted it doesn’t need to be formatted again in the future.
- Turn on TV and recorder, as if you were going to watch a tape or DVD.
- Press “Drive Select” on remote control until the word “DVD” appears on the little window in the front of the recorder.
- Press “Open/Close” on the front of the recorder to open the drawer.
- Put disc in the drawer and press “Open/Close” again to close it.
- The recorder will read the disc for about 10 or 20 seconds, then a message will appear on the TV screen saying “This disc is not formatted properly. Do you want to format the disc now?” Also on the screen will be two boxes, “Yes” and “No”.
- Press the left-hand arrow button on the remote (to the left of the “OK” button) until the “Yes” box on the screen is lit up in yellow. Now press “OK”.
- Another message will appear on the TV screen asking you “Are you sure?” Again, there are “Yes” and “No” boxes. Again, press the left-hand arrow button until “Yes” is lit up in yellow, and then press “OK”.
- Finally, one more message will appear on the screen, telling you that formatting takes approximately one minute. Once again, there will be two boxes below, this time labelled “Start” and “Cancel”. Again, press the left-hand arrow until “Start” is illuminated in yellow. Now press the “OK” button.
- The recorder will now format the disc. This can take anything up to a minute, but is usually quicker, so be patient.
- Once it’s finished, a message will appear on the TV screen saying “Formatting is now complete.” Press the “OK” button to finish.
- Press “Exit” to get back to ordinary TV.
- The disc is now ready to use.
