Can you recommend a decent vacuum cleaner for getting rid of pet hairs and smells?

With regards to decent vacuum cleaners that can cope with pet hairs and smells, I would recommend the Miele Cat and Dog cylinder machine. It’s been specifically designed with pets in mind and has attracted rave reviews from magazines over the years.
The latest version of the Cat and Dog has an air clean charcoal filter system that deals with the smells, and a turbo brush which basically lifts the carpet pile, thus releasing the hairs.
We have sold a lot of these cleaners and the feedback has been excellent.
Miele have a really good reputation as far as their vacuums are concerned and although they are a bit more expensive than some cleaners they certainly do the job very well. Build quality is excellent too – we know of many Miele machines which are ten years old or more and still going strong.
If you would prefer an upright, there is plenty out there which can deal with pet hair effectively as most uprights have a rotating brush which picks the hair out of the carpet pile. I would suggest one of Dyson’s “Animal” machines would be ideal, however it is hard to find an upright cleaner with a charcoal filter to deal with odours…
