Can I still buy a hot and cold fill washing machine?

Yes and no.

No “quality” manufacturer uses hot fill on their washing machines any more. The reason being Energy efficiency. Some of the very cheapest machines however still use the outdated hot and cold system.

The thinking behind the use of cold fill only, is water and energy management. On a hot fill machine, the appliance takes on water from a boiler of unknown age, heated to maybe 70 degrees.

Then, for a 40 degree cycle, it will add COLD water to cool it down. Not very energy efficient, and a waste of water.

On a cold fill only machine, the appliance can take on EXACTLY the amount water it needs, and then heat it to the exact temperature required using a modern, efficient heating element. That way it the uses the minimum amount of water required, and only consumes as little electricity as is absolutley necessary.

It does take slightly longer, but will save you money in the long run.
